Key information
PlatinumGames studio head Atsushi Inaba has revealed plans to give continuity to the Bayonetta franchise, expressing a strong desire to further develop the character and expand her world. In an interview with Famitsu, Inaba noted that fans should wait to see how the project takes shape in the future.
The license is currently shared between Sega and Nintendo, with previous entries appearing on Wii U and Switch, alongside the spin-off Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. A potential Bayonetta 4 would be exclusive to Switch 2.
However, a future installment would not feature the franchise's usual creators and directors. Key figures such as creator Hideki Kamiya, Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari, Bayonetta 2 director Yusuke Hashimoto, and Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata are no longer with the company.
Despite losing many veterans, PlatinumGames still retains a team experienced in action games, demonstrated by recent projects such as Ninja Gaiden 4. The studio is also currently developing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin and the mobile game Lost Order.
