Key information
On October 8, known as Toei Day, the Japanese film company Toei unveiled a new character named Arai Nami T081. This character is an anthropomorphized version of the classic Ariso ni Nami logo, which has appeared in the opening sequences of Toei films for many years.
Designed by illustrator Ryosuke Takeuchi, the character features long blue hair styled to resemble crashing waves and sea spray. The name T081 is a numerical representation of the word Toei. The iconic triangular logo is integrated into the character's hat, earrings, pupils, and clothing, while the base of the design incorporates the familiar rocky reef imagery from the film opening.
This character is part of the ongoing Toei Aranami Project, which aims to modernize the company's classic branding through merchandise and social media engagement. Takeuchi, known for his work on various anime and game franchises, focused on translating the core concept of the rough waves into a human form.
To celebrate the launch, the Toei Online Store is hosting a giveaway on X. Participants who follow the account and repost the designated announcement have a chance to win one of 108 original clear cards featuring the new character. The campaign runs until October 31.
