Key information
Sega launched an official Sonic the Hedgehog Discord server on the evening of October 5, 2026. Within under 24 hours of its debut, the community successfully surpassed 60,000 members. The platform serves as a centralized hub for fans to discuss games, movies, comics, and merchandise, and interested users can still join through the official invite link.
Due to its rapid expansion, the server has encountered initial growing pains, resulting in human-verification captchas for new arrivals and slowmode being enabled. Channel offerings are currently limited, featuring a general section with general, games, movies, IDW comics, and off-topic channels, alongside four channels dedicated to Sonic Racing Crossworlds and a single #sonic-merch channel under Sonic Collectibles.
Upon entering, members can configure notification preferences for Sonic games, comics, and merchandise, select their spoken language among English, Japanese, or Spanish, specify platforms, and indicate their region. Users must agree to the server rules before posting and chat to earn XP for permissions. While images are currently disabled, Sega has stated plans to introduce a dedicated fan art channel.
Server rules explicitly prohibit the posting of AI-generated content, including art, writing, music, videos, and Eggman dating simulators. The live server currently lacks a schedule for the addition of channels dedicated to past games or specific sections for the recent Paramount Pictures movies.
