Key information

Hideo Kojima has acknowledged a fan-developed version of P.T. that runs natively on Windows, expanding accessibility beyond its previous PlayStation 4 restriction. P.T., meaning Playable Teaser, originally debuted in August 2014 as a short demonstration for an upcoming Silent Hill project led by Kojima and starring Norman Reedus.

Following Kojima's split with Konami, the project was cancelled and removed from the PlayStation Store in 2015. However, a modder named LoreanXavier worked to make the horror title playable for PC users, stating the project was approximately 97% finished at the time of publication.

The project is not an emulator or a remake from scratch, but rather uses reverse engineering of the PlayStation 4 executable. Utilizing original assets, C++, and Vulkan, LoreanXavier created a 1:1 faithful version featuring the original house, content, Lua scripts, loops, events, progression, and final puzzle, including the voice recognition section.

Gameplay footage of the PC version is available on YouTube, and fans have requested open-source code release in case of copyright action. Most notably, Hideo Kojima retweeted a GameRant article about the PC port, prompting an emotional response from the modder who expressed disbelief and gratitude.
