Nvidia increased the price of its Shield TV Pro streaming box by $100 starting on October 2nd, bringing its cost to $299.99. Ars Technica reported that this adjustment stems from soaring component expenses caused by a broader memory shortage affecting various electronics.

When initially released almost seven years prior, the Pro configuration featured 16GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, and an improved Tegra X1+ processor for an original retail price of $199.99.

Gizmodo stated that Nvidia halted production of the standard entry-level Shield TV model, which debuted in 2019 with 8GB of storage and 2GB of RAM for $149.99. The manufacturer is shifting its focus exclusively to the Pro edition.

Elevated demand for GPUs and artificial intelligence chips heavily contributed to recent device price surges. Competitors like the Google TV Streamer remain significantly cheaper at $149, while Nvidia maintains its stronghold in the artificial intelligence sector.
