Key information

Nvidia has reportedly ceased production of its flagship GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. According to leaks circulating from factory communications, the company is shifting its supply of GB202 processors exclusively toward its professional RTX Pro line, which serves data centers and artificial intelligence applications.

The shift is attributed to the shared use of the GB202 chip across both consumer and professional hardware. While Nvidia has not issued an official statement, industry observers suggest the move is driven by higher profit margins in the professional sector and a desire to prevent AI firms from utilizing the cheaper consumer card as an alternative.

Market availability for the RTX 5090, which launched in January 2025 with a 1999 dollar price tag, has already been impacted. Current street prices range between 4000 and 5000 dollars due to high demand from AI companies. If production stops, existing inventory may remain, but further supply constraints could drive prices higher.

Leaked reports also mention a potential RTX 5080 model featuring 24 GB of memory, intended to lead the GeForce range. However, this claim remains unverified, as other industry sources have not corroborated the information, and no official announcement has been made regarding this hardware.
