Key information

Hello Games has announced that No Man’s Sky will launch on iPhone and iPad on Oct. 28. The port includes every update released over the past decade, including the September Cosmos DLC, and will be available for $19.99 with a free trial option.

The mobile version supports full touch controls, redesigned menus, and controller support, with mouse and keyboard compatibility on iPad. While the game lacks multiplayer and settlements at launch, founder Sean Murray indicated these features could potentially be added later based on community feedback.

The port is compatible with iPhone 11 and newer models, as well as iPad Air generation 3 and later. Despite containing the full game, the total file size remains under 5 GB. Murray attributes this performance to ongoing engine optimizations, noting that work on the upcoming title Light No Fire directly contributed to the mobile version's efficiency.

Development of the mobile port began approximately three years ago. Hello Games utilizes a shared engine for its projects, allowing technical advancements from Light No Fire to benefit No Man’s Sky. While Light No Fire remains in development without a set release date, its technology is being tested and hardened through these cross-project implementations.
