Key information

Grasshopper Manufacture, the development studio behind No More Heroes and Killer7, has parted ways with parent company NetEase to become an independent studio once again. Founder Goichi "Suda51" Suda announced the departure, explaining that the transition stems from a strong desire to deliver video games in a wider variety of styles to players everywhere.

Suda stated that the decision was reached following thorough discussions and generous cooperation with NetEase Games. He noted that the studio cherishes the relationship built with NetEase and looks forward to potential future collaborations. NetEase initially acquired Grasshopper Manufacture in 2021 from previous parent company Gungho Online Entertainment.

According to Suda, improving the studio's self-publishing know-how has provided a broad range of options moving forward. Regardless of how future titles are published, the team remains committed to creating unique games featuring their signature flavor and enhanced quality, upholding the studio's "NO GAME NO LIFE" gaming experience.
