Key information

Ubisoft has initiated Motherbrain, a generative artificial intelligence initiative that operates as a global entity within the company. According to internal announcements accessed by Insider Gaming, the technology aims to be implemented in as many titles as possible across franchises such as Assassin's Creed, FarCry, and Rayman.

The stated goal of the Motherbrain project is to accelerate gameplay innovation. Led by Xavier Manzanares, the team will develop proprietary artificial intelligence technology and middleware focused on generative gameplay to serve as a shared foundation for company studios.

Although generative artificial intelligence tools remain surrounded by controversy, developers continue adopting them. Other companies are also exploring similar technologies, such as Capcom discussing upcoming advancements through the REX project for RE Engine.

The existence of Motherbrain initially came to light via a patent rather than an official public presentation. Ubisoft reportedly considers this initiative to be as vital as creative studios and other internal services within the organization.
