Key information

Artstorm, the developer behind the naval combat game Modern Warships, has acknowledged using an independent artist's work without authorization. Concept artist Alex Jay Brady identified that the in-game vessel, the RF Bartini A-2000-7, was based on their original atomic ekranoplan carrier design.

Brady noted that the in-game model replicates specific, non-realistic details from their original sketches, including engine placement and deck lines. The artist stated that the design was cloned wholesale, including technical errors that were present in the original concept.

Artstorm publicly apologized to Brady on X, admitting the design was used as a reference without proper clearance. The developer stated they would contact the artist directly to resolve the situation. Brady is currently awaiting an offer from the studio to potentially settle the matter.

The vessel in question is available through gacha mechanics or by spending in-game ArtCoins. Some Steam users have criticized the game's monetization, with reviews alleging that the developers prioritize profit over game balance, with one user labeling the developers as thieves.
