Key information

Infinity Ward has detailed new revival mechanics for the DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The developer aims to mitigate the frustration of early-match eliminations by providing players with a built-in second chance, though this feature carries specific tactical consequences.

Every operator now deploys with a Tourniquet ability. When downed, players can utilize this mechanic to stand back up, but they enter a wounded state. This status limits the operator's maximum health to 100 HP, down from the standard 150 HP, placing them at a disadvantage during future combat encounters.

To restore full health and regain the ability to use the Tourniquet again, players must locate and use a medkit. While temporary medical supplies can boost health, they do not treat the underlying wound. If a player is downed while relying on temporary health, they cannot use the Tourniquet to revive themselves.

Beyond the base ability, players can still loot or print additional self-revives for extra protection. The DMZ mode enters early access on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, for those who digitally pre-order or pre-purchase the title.
