Key information

Xbox has officially established a new division named XP to manage the expansion of its gaming intellectual properties into film, television, and live events. CTO Scott Van Vliet confirmed that theme park initiatives will be a core component of this newly formalized organizational structure.

The company is currently developing a Minecraft-themed attraction, which is scheduled to open at the Chessington World of Adventures in the UK next year. This site will feature themed food offerings as part of the visitor experience.

Chief strategy officer Matthew Ball described the Minecraft project as the first of many upcoming theme park placements. These efforts involve integrating Xbox franchises into existing parks rather than constructing independent, dedicated Xbox theme parks, a strategy similar to Nintendo's collaborations with Universal Studios.

The XP division is led by Kayleen Walters, who previously served as a Lucasfilm executive and president of Minecraft. The division encompasses four sub-groups dedicated to consumer products, brand partnerships, live events, and media adaptations.
