Key information

Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux are receiving a free next-gen upgrade. This release arrives alongside the milestone achievement of the Metro franchise reaching 50 million copies sold globally.

The studio clarifies that this release is not a full remake or remaster. Instead, it preserves the original aesthetic while adding 4K textures across all platforms, enhanced animations, better audio, and richer environmental detail.

PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S versions feature native support with platform extras like PSSR on PS5 Pro, TSR upscaling on Xbox Series X, and broader spatial audio support.

The update also prepares players for Metro 2039, slated for 4th February. Eurogamer played about two hours of Metro 2039 in August, praising its remarkable graphics and crushing sense of claustrophobia.
