Key information

2K and Hangar 13 have released native versions of Mafia III: Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This surprise update arrives nearly ten years after the game's original 2016 launch, providing current-generation console owners with technical enhancements and performance improvements.

The primary technical upgrade is the support for 60 frames per second, a significant increase from the previous 30 FPS limit. While many cinematic sequences now render in real-time at this higher frame rate, some pre-recorded scenes remain locked at 30 FPS.

Beyond performance, Hangar 13 addressed numerous technical issues, including bugs affecting lighting, textures, vegetation, and AI behavior. Developers also resolved progression blockers in story missions and expansions, alongside fixes for driving, weapon mechanics, and achievement tracking.

The update is free for existing owners on PS4 and Xbox One, as well as for those who own Mafia: Trilogy or Mafia: The Omerta Collection. New players can purchase the title on the PS Store for 5,99 euros until October 21. PC users also received a free update adding stability improvements and new frame rate limit options.
