Amanita Design has officially announced Machinarium 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2009 graphic adventure. Revealed during the Triple-i Initiative event, the title continues the story of robots Josef and Berta following their escape from the city of Machinarium. The game is currently in development for PC via Steam, though no release date has been provided.

The narrative begins after the protagonists suffer an accident in a desolate region, leading them to a valley inhabited by two robot tribes: one in the Elektrona monastery and another in the city of Oilton. Players must assist these communities as they face energy shortages. The game maintains the series' hallmark lack of dialogue, relying instead on gestures and animated bubbles.

Gameplay introduces the ability to control both Josef and Berta, allowing players to switch between them to utilize unique skills for solving complex puzzles. While traditional mouse controls remain, the sequel adds full controller support for direct character movement. The visual style features hand-drawn environments inspired by Renaissance painting and classic illustrations.

The project reunites the team with composer Tomáš Dvořák, known as Floex, who returns to provide a soundtrack featuring new symphonic arrangements. This sequel marks a return to the franchise 17 years after the original release.
