Key information
Lord of the Rings Online is releasing Wolves of Mordor later this month. Depending on whether players purchase the standard edition, the collector's edition, or the ultimate fan bundle, they will receive two, three, or four neighbours respectively. SSG also stated that it will sell the other neighbours individually next year for LOTRO Points.
The four available neighbours consist of Brutha, a Dwarf woodworker; Emmathron, an Elf artist; Haldo, a Hobbit venturing past the Shire; and Golwen, a Gondorian sailor. Players can interact with them by placing a banner at their house, which leads to story instances, daily quests from the community board, and gift-giving mechanics tied to each character's randomized traits, likes, and dislikes.
Gift makers situated in the four main beginner towns sell outfits and gifts using gift voucher currency. While the system introduces ambitious life-sim elements and engaging missions, forum discussions and testers highlighted that the complex mechanics currently lack intuitive instruction and proper documentation.
