Key information

S-GAME Studio has confirmed that bosses in Phantom Blade Zero will actively learn and adapt to player actions. This design choice contrasts with popular theories regarding Elden Ring, where players speculated about similar adaptive AI that FromSoftware never officially verified.

Liang Qiwei, CEO of S-GAME, revealed that the game will feature over 50 bosses. Players can obtain 30 primary and over 20 secondary weapons by defeating these foes. Combat encounters incorporate various mechanics, including strong requirements for specific fighting styles, weak points tied to items, and story-based strategies that can trigger unique dialogue.

The developers designed enemy AI to mimic the experience of playing against a human opponent in a competitive setting. Rather than simply inflating statistics, the AI dynamically adjusts to player behavior during combat. While the team avoids extreme action prediction that would make victory impossible, the lack of fixed patterns means players cannot rely on memorization to complete the game without dying.

Currently, no team member has managed to finish the game without dying due to the unpredictable nature of the adaptive bosses. While the developers believe it is theoretically possible for highly skilled players to achieve a deathless run, the system ensures that every encounter remains distinct.
