Key information
Following EVGA's departure from the graphics card market, prominent overclocker Vince Lucido, known as Kingpin, stepped back from the PC overclocking scene. This included a brief collaboration with PNY for a planned RTX 50-series launch that was ultimately scrapped, according to a recent video on his YouTube channel.
Lucido announced that he has partnered with ASUS for his signature overclocking graphics cards, noting that discussions with high-level ASUS management persuaded him to return to the industry. He also stated that he is starting off with hardware from ASUS and Corsair.
While Kingpin mentioned that contractual obligations prevented him from working in the GPU sector between leaving EVGA and announcing his return, he did not disclose the specifics of those terms. Future projects will be showcased on the Overclock Kingpin YouTube channel, which currently contains no published videos.
It remains unconfirmed whether the partnership with ASUS will lead to a new ASUS Kingpin graphics card. Given the timing within the RTX 50-series generation and market conditions, analysts note that other hardware and engineering projects aimed at enthusiasts are also possible avenues for the collaboration.
