Key information
GamingTrend reported on the native release of the Kingdom Hearts collection for the Switch 2, which offers a vast improvement over previous Cloud Versions. The reviewer noted that while the collection has problems, having the games natively on the console is preferable to game streaming.
According to the reviewer, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and Kingdom Hearts 3 experience unstable performance, hovering between 20 to 60 frames per second. In Kingdom Hearts 3, specific areas like the Twilight Town forest suffer from severe choppiness, whereas older titles in the bundle remain locked to 60 frames per second outside of cutscenes.
The reviewer highlighted several material limitations, including stuttering in the opening movie of Kingdom Hearts 1, which reflected a lack of care by Square Enix. Additionally, save file conversion was limited to Kingdom Hearts 3 and was unavailable prior to launch.
The reviewer concluded that despite the shortcomings and preference for the PC version on a Steam Deck, the Switch 2 collection offers portability convenience ahead of Kingdom Hearts 4 next year. The reviewer also suggested that Nintendo could add older versions of Chain of Memories and DS titles to NSO.
