Key information
Square Enix has launched the Kingdom Hearts Collection 1-3 natively on Nintendo Switch 2, alongside releases for PS5 and Xbox Series. This bundle includes Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMix, 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and III + ReMind DLC. Previously, Switch users were limited to cloud versions of these titles.
The reviewer found Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMix to be the standout on Switch 2, noting it performs solidly in both docked and handheld modes. It features 60fps gameplay and allows players to skip pre-rendered cut-scenes in the first game, a feature absent in the original PS4 release.
However, the reviewer struggles to recommend the full collection due to performance issues in later titles. Kingdom Hearts III and 0.2 Birth by Sleep suffer from variable, uncapped frame rates on Switch 2. The reviewer suggests that a 30fps cap option, similar to recent Capcom releases, would improve the experience.
While the PS5 version offers resolution and draw distance improvements, it currently faces a visual bloom issue in 0.2 Birth by Sleep. Ultimately, the reviewer advises that while the 1.5+2.5 bundle is a strong purchase, the remaining games require further optimization to be fully recommended.
