Naoki Hamaguchi stated he did his best to secure a complete physical edition for Final Fantasy VII Revelation. However, due to holding about 200 GB of content, delivering the entire game on disc proved very difficult for the team at Square Enix.

Unlike previous entries that launched on two discs, this final installment will occupy only one single disc and will require players to download additional data on all platforms. Hamaguchi explained that the physical release will contain the opening section as a key disc before prompting users to download the rest.

Addressing fan backlash and the 'no disc, no buy' sentiment on social media, Hamaguchi expressed sympathy for disappointed players. The director noted that while he oversees the game content and fun factor, product packaging and sales strategies fall under the publishing team's jurisdiction.

Despite facing pressure toward digital and disc-free editions, Hamaguchi defended physical media during internal negotiations and talks with manufacturers. The title is scheduled to launch on April 8 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PS5.
