Key information

A Reddit user named BitProfessional3792 recently shared an unusual online shopping experience after ordering an AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor from the official Amazon store, only to discover the internal processor had been swapped with an Intel Core i3-3000 series CPU from 10 years ago while the outer box and seals appeared normal.

Undeterred by the first incident, the customer placed a second order for the same AMD processor on Amazon and recorded a video during unboxing the next day as a precaution, yet the package was swapped using the exact same method and contained another older Intel Core i3-3000 series processor.

Frustrated with the situation and having other computer components waiting to be assembled, the buyer drove four hours round trip to Best Buy to purchase a verified, genuine processor in person. The two failed online orders cost approximately US$ 1,600, and Amazon is currently processing the related refunds.

Commentators pointed out that the packaging featured LPN labels used for Amazon returns, suggesting that returned items might be intercepted and tampered with to bypass restocking inspection mechanisms. Observers note that these identical incidents indicate potential systemic vulnerabilities or internal theft within local Amazon warehousing and logistics.
