Key information

Idea Factory has announced a brand-new visual novel brand named IFChronicle alongside its debut title, ICONOLOGY. Originally reported by Gematsu on September 30, the crime drama and suspense adventure is planned for release on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, though an official launch date has not yet been determined.

The story follows Haruho Tsubakiya, an art student whose parents were murdered in an unsolved crime a decade ago. Recruited as a special investigator due to her ability to interpret cognitive paintings, she uses a technical device known as the White Cube to visualize suspects' thoughts as images and explore their motives and traumas. Players will shape the narrative through their choices, colleague relationships, and painting interpretations, leading to multiple different endings.

The project features prominent industry talent, including writer Makoto Fukami, known for PSYCHO-PASS and the Resident Evil animated films Resident Evil: Vendetta and Resident Evil: Death Island. Character design is handled by Teita, whose previous credits include Fate/Grand Order and CharadeManiacs. Upon release, ICONOLOGY will feature language support for English, Japanese, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
