Key information
Idea Factory has announced IFChronicle, a brand-new visual novel brand, alongside its debut game, the crime and thriller title ICONOLOGY. The game is planned for release on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, following an initial report by Gematsu on September 30th. An exact release date has not yet been confirmed by the company.
The story follows art student Haruho Tsubakiya, whose parents were killed in an unsolved crime a decade ago. Recruited as a special investigator due to her ability to decipher cognitive paintings, she uses a device called White Cube to project suspects' thoughts as visual images in order to investigate their motives and traumas. The narrative features multiple endings shaped by player choices, relationships with fellow investigators, and the interpretation of the cognitive paintings.
The production features experienced creative talent, with a script written by Makoto Fukami, known for the anime series Psycho-Pass and the films Resident Evil: Vendetta and Resident Evil: Death Island. Character design is handled by Teita, who has previously worked on Fate/Grand Order and CharadeManiacs. At launch, the game will support English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
