Developer Unfrozen has released update 0.81.02 for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, introducing the new Alliances system that brings long-awaited co-op functionality to both PvE and PvP modes. Players can team up for 2-versus-2 matches or unite against computer-controlled adversaries.

The cooperative mode features uninterrupted simultaneous turns, shared Fog of War with visible teammate movement routes, resource trading and requests, remote transfer of armies and artifacts between heroes, and joint victory conditions where one ally's success secures the team's win. Five additional map templates were prepared for the mode, with more scenarios and locations slated for future support.

Additionally, the update introduces the Advanced Random Map Generator for single-player use, allowing players to customize map size, participant count, resource abundance, difficulty, win conditions, and symmetry. The update also brings a revamped save and load menu, an enhanced Reactions Wheel with new emojis usable in battles and cities, improvements to matchmaking and ranking calculations, and numerous technical bug fixes.
