Key information

A Reddit user identified as No-Context2224 has announced the development of an online cooperative multiplayer mod for Crimson Desert. Currently in the testing phase, the project allows players to connect via Steam without requiring port forwarding. The modder successfully demonstrated the experience with a friend, marking a significant step for fans seeking multiplayer features in the title.

The mod currently supports synchronized movement, including running, jumping, gliding, and climbing. Combat is also functional, with players able to see each other's attacks, ability animations, and equipment changes. An experimental feature allows for shared damage, where attacks made by a guest player against copied enemies in their world affect the host's actual targets.

Despite the progress, the mod faces technical limitations. Players currently inhabit separate world instances, meaning enemy positioning is not synchronized. Additionally, mount interactions remain buggy, with some appearing to ride through the air, and environmental interactions like gathering resources are only visible to the performer. The project has attracted interest from other developers looking to collaborate on finishing the mod.

While Pearl Abyss has acknowledged the potential for multiplayer, it is not currently part of their official roadmap. The developer stated in August 2026 that they are conducting technical and design research regarding server architecture and stability, but no concrete plans have been finalized. Consequently, community-led mods remain the only available options for cooperative play.
