During a preview of Gundam Rogue Orbit, a demo build gave players a chance to experience combo-heavy action featuring esoteric weaponry such as a whip sword and a Sword Lance. Despite the game featuring a screenshot of its mech customization menu on Steam, months after its reveal, the Gundam team kept the customization screen hidden from the hands-on preview.

The 30-minute preview offered purely action-focused gameplay accompanied by voiceovers concerning aliens called The Apocalypse. The combat leans more toward action RPG elements, utilizing active skills with individual cooldowns, default damage numbers, and meters built up through heavy lunging attacks to spawn laser-spewing orbs.

The preview left the impression of a gentler, particle-heavy cousin to FromSoftware's Armored Core 6. However, because assembling custom builds before missions is considered a core joy of mech games, the reviewer noted that they cannot know for certain if the title will be a great mech action game until they can equip the weapons themselves when the full game is out in March.
