Key information
Grand Theft Auto 6 is maintaining a heavy focus on satire, with developers explaining that the game's version of today's world aims to be amplified, more over the top, more insane, and more in your face. According to senior vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries, the goal is to make everything satirical, larger than life, and more grotesque rather than simply holding up a mirror.
Open world writing director James Horton noted that players will experience this detailed environment by overhearing snatches of numerous conversations while sprinting down the busiest streets, including robovoiced political campaign phone calls alongside radio talk shows and ads.
The game also centers on Lucia, the series' first fully voiced woman protagonist, and her relationship with co-star Jason. Game writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern stated that the team wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, and able to learn from each other to create an authentic team.
