Rockstar Games has revealed that GTA 6 will feature a more realistic approach to police pursuits in the state of Leonida. Co-studio head Rob Nelson explained that players will no longer simply escape a glowing red zone to lose their wanted level, as the developer aims to avoid the feeling of being all-powerful that was common in GTA 5.
The game introduces an evolved version of the NPC interaction system seen in Red Dead Redemption 2. Players can engage with various citizens, ranging from joggers to gang members, with interactions offering significantly more depth than previous titles. These encounters can escalate based on player behavior, such as eavesdropping or following individuals.
Players will have access to interactive safehouses where they can switch between protagonists Jason and Lucia, decorate spaces, or perform unique actions. Rockstar clarified that these locations are not owned by the characters, as they are staying in someone else's home.
While players can still engage in chaotic activities, the new wanted system incorporates more variables to increase difficulty. Rockstar intends for these encounters to feel earned, providing multiple ways to handle situations that arise from NPC interactions.
