Key information

Devon Pritchard, who became president of Nintendo of America in January, recently outlined her strategic vision for the company. In an interview with Variety, she addressed the current standing of the Switch 2, the potential for GTA 6 on the platform, and upcoming celebrations for the Zelda franchise.

Pritchard claims the Switch 2, released in 2025, holds a competitive advantage over Xbox and PlayStation hardware. She notes that the console offers superior visuals and power compared to its predecessor, enabling developers to create unique experiences. While the system hosts many ports, such as the recently released Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen, it also features significant first-party titles and major multi-platform releases like Resident Evil Requiem.

Regarding the highly anticipated GTA 6, Pritchard stated she has no announcements, noting that any potential release remains a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar. Meanwhile, Nintendo is preparing for the fortieth anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, which includes an Ocarina of Time remake, concert series, and a live-action film arriving in April.

Pritchard emphasized that Nintendo remains committed to a broad audience, targeting players aged 5 to 95. The company aims to provide diverse creative experiences to ensure the platform remains accessible and engaging for all users, maintaining its long-standing philosophy of inclusivity in gaming.
