Google and Unity announced a strategic partnership on October 7 to develop a new platform for AI-driven game creation, play, and sharing. The collaboration introduces Google's experimental platform, Playground, which enables users to build playable games using text prompts without requiring prior programming experience.

Playground utilizes a conversational interface where users can start from a blank canvas or use guided prompts. Once an initial version is created, users can instruct the AI to modify physics, rules, characters, or environments. The platform operates via web browsers, allowing games to be played on mobile devices and laptops.

For creators seeking more advanced tools, Unity is introducing Unity Spark. This browser-based environment offers professional-grade mechanics and high-quality 3D development capabilities. Unity CEO Matt Bromberg emphasized that the tool aims to help users create unique interactive experiences rather than simply generating existing games. Unity Spark will integrate with the Unity Asset Store, with a closed beta scheduled for 2026.

Playground is currently available to users aged 18 and older in the United States. Published games are subject to safety reviews under Community Guidelines, and the platform includes social features such as leaderboards and creator tracking.
