Key information

Google has introduced Playground, an experimental platform developed by Google Labs that enables users to create, modify, and share video games without programming knowledge. By utilizing text-based instructions, individuals can generate functional games directly within a web browser on both computers and mobile devices.

The platform operates through a conversational interface where users describe their desired game concepts. Creators can start from scratch or utilize templates covering genres like platformers, racing, and tower defense. The system supports 2D and 3D experiences, incorporating Google AI models such as Gemini, Nano Banana, and Lyria to adjust physics, rules, and visual styles.

Playground debuted on October 7 in the United States for users aged 18 and older. While playing existing creations is free, the generation of new games relies on a credit system that refreshes weekly. A limited free tier is available, while Google One AI subscribers receive increased access and immediate tool availability.

Looking ahead, Google plans to integrate Unity Spark to facilitate more complex mechanics and high-quality 3D graphics. Although the platform is currently experimental, Google intends to expand its capabilities in the coming months, though a release date for Spain remains unannounced.
