Key information
Google has acknowledged that Intel-based Googlebook laptops may experience issues running certain Android apps. The statement was issued on the same day the new Googlebooks hit the market.
Previously, Google promoted that the devices granted access to the entire Play Store library. In a statement provided to Android Authority, the company clarified that while every app remains available, performance may not be completely smooth on every Googlebook model.
Although the vast majority of apps run smoothly out of the box on both Intel and Qualcomm Googlebooks, a small handful of complex apps or games originally designed for Arm chips require developer tuning to perform their best on Intel platforms. Google stated it is working with Intel, Qualcomm, and developers to optimize performance.
Google has not specified the exact number of affected apps or named any particular titles experiencing problems. Out of five Googlebook laptops released, three manufactured by Acer, Asus, and Lenovo utilize x86 Intel chips, whereas the Dell and HP models run on Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.
