Key information

Square Enix is bringing Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler 2 to the GOG Preservation Program, with product pages currently live for both titles. Although the listings currently state they are coming soon rather than providing an exact release date, launch discounts are planned with the first game receiving a 70% off discount and the second offering a 60% off sale.

As part of the GOG Preservation Program, both turn-based HD-2D JRPGs will receive continuous updates to ensure they remain playable and relevant on modern hardware. GOG has confirmed that both titles are Windows 11 verified and will be completely DRM-free, following their previous releases on other PC storefronts such as Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The series centers on eight distinct heroes, each featuring individual stories and classes that allow for multiclassing as players progress. The sequel also introduced quality of life improvements, notably featuring increased interaction among the eight main characters.

In addition to the upcoming GOG releases, Square Enix recently launched both titles on the Switch 2 system this week for $59.99 each without any launch sales. While the original Octopath Traveler is available across Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and PC, the second installment is additionally playable on the Xbox Series X.
