Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara, a new DLC for Sucker Punch’s 2025 samurai game, is available now and transports players to the Ashoro Foothills region. The expansion blends open-world exploration, such as discovering fox dens and hot springs, with character work for Atsu as she confronts a gang known as the Vipers, who were formerly loyal to the Yōtei Six’s Snake.
The story features bounties for contenders seeking the Snake’s vacant spot. One standout bounty is against Umakichi the Bear Slayer, a character who keeps caged bears to train on his soldiers. During this encounter, Umakichi fights alongside goons while a pair of caged bears break free and enter the fray to join Atsu's side.
Instead of actively fighting, Atsu can sit back while the bears claw and toss Umakichi around. The player only needs to occasionally use new heavy weapons when Umakichi gets close, ultimately waiting to deliver the final blow once the bears have nearly depleted his health bar.
The expansion highlights how the Vipers impact both the people and the wildlife of the Ashoro Foothills. Optional activities showcase these themes, including freeing a trapped golden bird from Vipers, saving an ensnared fox, and encountering a deer sanctuary on the way to a shrine.
