Key information
Rumors suggest that Sony is working on a new entry in the long-dormant Ape Escape franchise. This potential revival follows a period where many classic titles from the PlayStation 2 era remained inactive.
Journalist Jeff Gerstmann reports that the project is currently in development at Evening Star, the studio previously responsible for Sonic Mania. VGC has also provided supporting reports regarding the studio's involvement in this title.
Despite these reports, Gerstmann expressed uncertainty regarding the project's timeline, noting that the game may not be released in the near future.
Ape Escape was originally managed by the now-defunct SIE Japan Studio. While Sony previously shifted away from AA-scale projects, the company is now reportedly revisiting these older franchises through external development teams, similar to recent rumors surrounding a potential Killzone remake or remaster.
