Key information
Sony is reportedly reviving its dormant franchises, with recent rumors suggesting a new Ape Escape title is currently in development. This potential project signals a shift in strategy for the company regarding its older intellectual properties.
Journalist Jeff Gerstmann reports that the game is being developed by Evening Star, the studio known for its work on Sonic Mania. VGC has also corroborated these claims, further supporting the existence of the project.
Despite these reports, Gerstmann expressed uncertainty regarding the release timeline, noting that the game may not appear in the near future. The franchise was previously managed by the now-closed SIE Japan Studio.
This development aligns with broader speculation that Sony is revisiting its legacy catalog, following earlier rumors concerning a potential Killzone remake or remaster. The company is now utilizing external teams to handle these AA-scale titles.
