Key information
CDPR is revisiting The Witcher 3 with a full-game remaster, titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, designed to bring the title up to second-quarter-of-the-21st-century fidelity with enhanced visuals. Alongside the remaster, a brand-new expansion named Songs of the Past is scheduled to arrive in 2027, while both previous expansions are now free of charge.
The updated version introduces minor features and mechanical adjustments to improve the user experience. Players can now view all quest objectives directly on the world map and switch between focused quests using a gamepad trigger. Additionally, the heads-up display is less cluttered, and a loot feed displays picked-up or received items.
Combat has also undergone minor adjustments to reduce old stiffness, though one writer notes that players who previously disliked the swordplay and sign mechanics are unlikely to experience a complete change of heart. The developer's stated objective is to make the experience feel mechanically comparable to modern releases.
The Witcher 3 – Songs of the Past was demonstrated in action, and the full-game remaster is slated for release this year. The writer notes that the upcoming content provides an opportunity to create a new complete save file and explore the updated world.
