Voice actress Alix Wilton Regan asserted that the title was quite advanced in production, mentioning she had completed entire story chapters. Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported that Take-Two displayed financing interest that ultimately collapsed, while id Software previously explored alternative pitches.
This project would have marked the initial series entry since Rare released Perfect Dark Zero on Xbox 360 in November 2005. Additionally, Rare experienced the cancellation of its undisclosed project Everwild alongside this franchise reboot.
