Key information
During the New York Comic Con panel for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, developers introduced a new iteration of the classic summon Shiva. Known as Polydroid Shiva, this character is voiced by Critical Role performer Marisha Ray. While her specific role remains mysterious, behind-the-scenes footage suggests she oversees a snowboarding minigame and shares a tense interaction with Vincent Valentine.
In a revealed scene, Polydroid Shiva confronts Vincent regarding his actions, demanding he participate in a snowboarding challenge on her slopes. Vincent Valentine, voiced by Matt Mercer, responds with indifference to her complaints. The interaction highlights a unique dynamic between the two characters within the upcoming title.
Matt Mercer expressed enthusiasm about working alongside his wife, Marisha Ray, noting that Shiva is her favorite summon in the series. Mercer clarified that the casting process was independent of their relationship, with the development team initially unaware of their marriage, which he described as a professional achievement for Ray.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027. Director Naoki Hamaguchi indicated that the game will offer over 100 hours of content for completionists. The project represents a significant commitment for the cast, with Cloud voice actor Cody Christian noting that he spent approximately 800 hours in the recording booth to refine his performance.
