Key information
Director Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed that the platinum trophy in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is designed to be significantly easier to attain than the one in Rebirth. While only slightly over 2,6% of players unlocked the platinum trophy in Rebirth, the team now expects 20% or more of players to achieve its counterpart in Revelation.
Hamaguchi explained in an interview with Anime News Network that the low completion percentage in Rebirth was not accidental, as the immense amount of content was designed to push players to achieve perfection. However, the studio did not foresee how demanding it would be once players chased the trophy, with battle director Teruki Endo feeling similar regret after seeing fan reactions.
Taking lessons directly from Rebirth, the development team aims to make the battles in the upcoming sequel entertaining rather than simply challenging. Although specific trophy requirements have not been detailed, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
