Square Enix has officially announced the upcoming release of Chocobo's Scout Frenzy Board Game, a new tabletop title based on the Final Fantasy series. The game is scheduled for release on March 27, 2027, with a retail price of 4,400 yen including tax. Pre-orders are currently available through the company's e-STORE.
Designed for two to five players, the game features a simple ruleset where participants compete to collect point cards. Players secretly select number cards from their hands, and those with the highest values claim the available point cards first. The objective is to finish the game with the highest total score.
The gameplay involves strategic interaction, as players must navigate both positive and negative point cards. While Gysahl Greens provide positive points, monster cards like Goblins or Iron Giants act as penalties. Additionally, special cards such as Dice, Bomb, and companion cards like Moogles or White Mages offer variable effects that can shift scores depending on the situation.
The package includes 100 Chocobo cards, 50 exploration cards, 15 command coins, two High/Low markers, and four instruction manuals in English, Japanese, French, and German. With an average play time of 30 minutes, the game is suitable for ages 10 and up.
