Sega has officially announced a second year of downloadable content for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, which will be accessible through a new paid pass. This decision has triggered significant frustration among the player base, who argue that the company is contradicting its previous commitments regarding post-launch support.
The Year 2 Pass is priced at 29,99€. Players who previously purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition are particularly vocal, noting that the edition's price has dropped from 99,99€ to 69,99€. These fans feel that the current strategy devalues their early support for the title.
The controversy stems from a June 2025 statement where Sega promised that Digital Deluxe Edition owners would receive the Season Pass and all future paid content. Fans now contend that the company is failing to honor this specific pledge by requiring additional payments for the newly announced content cycle.
While some speculate that the original promise was intended only for the first year of content, the ambiguity has fueled widespread criticism. Meanwhile, the game continues to expand its roster, with characters from franchises like Evangelion, Final Fantasy, and Bayonetta appearing in the game, the latter being available as a free character.
