Key information

Amanita Design has officially announced a sequel to the acclaimed indie title Machinarium. Nearly 17 years after the original release, the studio is developing a follow-up that continues the journey of robots Josef and Berta. The team behind the project includes original contributors such as director Jakub Dvorský, designer Adolf Lachman, animator Václav Blín, and composer Tomáš Dvořák.

The narrative picks up after the events of the first game, with Josef and Berta discovering a hidden valley inhabited by two robot tribes. These groups, residing in a monastery and a lower city, face a critical energy shortage that players must address. The sequel aims to preserve the original's hand-drawn aesthetic and dialogue-free, symbol-based storytelling.

Gameplay introduces new mechanics by allowing players to control both Josef and Berta, each possessing unique abilities required to solve complex logic puzzles. Additionally, the developers have implemented native controller support for direct character movement, though traditional mouse controls remain available for those preferring a classic adventure experience.
