Key information

Japanese voice and motion-capture actor Akio Otsuka expressed deep attachment to the Metal Gear series in a Bunshun interview, stating a strong desire for Konami to produce a brand new game. However, Otsuka remains divided because he previously stated he would not participate in a new title without creator Hideo Kojima, affirming that he cannot take back those words.

Reflecting on production memories, Otsuka recalled that Solid Snake's famous line was an impromptu addition during Japanese recording sessions. He also shared a surreal studio experience where his real-life father, Chikao Otsuka, voiced Big Boss at the end of MGS4 while Akio performed motion capture.

Otsuka expressed strong empathy for Kojima regarding his departure from Konami and the high stakes surrounding Death Stranding, noting he wept when that project successfully launched. Furthermore, Otsuka defended former Kojima team members who stayed at Konami, urging fans not to view them as villains since they want to protect Metal Gear.

While Konami launched Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater reusing Otsuka's original performance from MGS3: Subsistence (2006), a completely original game remains a possibility. Although Otsuka feels conflicted due to his loyalty to Kojima, he suggested he would be willing to work on a new entry if Konami develops one.
