Mexico-based studio Interactive Dreams has unveiled This Is Not For You, a dimension-defying horror game inspired by Mark Z. Danielewski's House of Leaves. Players assume the role of Ulysses, a shipwrecked sailor trapped within a non-Euclidean lighthouse that features incoherent spatial geometry.
The core gameplay involves navigating a maze where directions are unreliable and exits may lead to unexpected locations like the ocean floor. To escape, players must deactivate the lighthouse, a process that requires careful movement as each step gradually drains the protagonist's blood.
Because the lighthouse layout is disorderly, the game provides a built-in doodlepad with zoom and color options to assist with manual cartography. Players will encounter other trapped figures, including a magician and a diver, while uncovering letters from a character named Aura.
This Is Not For You is scheduled for release next year. The title follows a series of literary and historical experiments from the developer, including Your Very Last Words and Swann's Song.
