Key information

Spanish indie developer RYUHA Studio has launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for Drakoko, an upcoming game for the Game Boy Color.

The campaign features infinite scrolling levels connecting top, bottom, left, and right, inspired by works from Yoji Ishii such as Friskies, Teddy Boy Blues, and Fantasy Zone. Gameplay centers on the mother dragon Drakoko rescuing corrupted dragons using pink love waves rather than violence.

The project originated as a traditional spaceship shooter inspired by Cybernoid: The Fighting Machine, but shifted direction after developer Ryuha's seven-year-old son questioned why games always require killing and suggested a story about a dragon searching for lost family.

Backing tiers include a digital version for 10 euros, a physical cartridge and sticker set for 55 euros, and a 199 euro Super Limited Edition containing hand-drawn artwork, a soundtrack CD, a mini poster, and a credit placement.
