Valve has added the Rat King to the in-development MOBA Deadlock, fulfilling a public vote and fan desire that began over a year ago following a community artist's suggestion. While the original Reddit concept featured a Wall Street corporate worker in a suit, Valve's version is a chunky mob boss wearing a scrap crown and cape.
The Rat King functions as a frontline tank equipped with a rapid-fire Sovereign's Decree rifle holding 24 rounds in the magazine. He has a slightly reduced lifesteal effectiveness of 75%, which is balanced by his Royal Pestments ability that grants a barrier and reflects bullet damage.
His kit also includes Scrap Grenade, which bounces three times and can be hit with melee attacks to redirect it, and Rat Swarm, sending rodents to bite targets and apply stacking bullet resist debuffs. His ultimate, Rule, Rattania!, allows him to charge forward, buff allies, and eventually slam a banner into the ground to summon a flooding sewer pipe of rats.
The Rat King is the first of six heroes releasing in the Deadlock City Never Sleeps update, with the next hero arriving on Tuesday October 6.
