Producer Takeshi Yamanaka has announced that Cyclops Phoenix will arrive in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on November 2. As the first DLC character included in the game's Year One Pass, this version of Scott Summers features a unique combat style that blends Optic Blast attacks with the destructive power of the Phoenix Force.
The character's mechanics center on accumulating solar shards through Optic Blast usage. Once four shards are collected, players can trigger a transformation into the Dark Phoenix state. While this form provides a temporary power boost, it carries the risk of depleting the player's health gauge, reflecting the volatile nature of the Phoenix Force.
To address fan expectations for traditional designs, the developers are including 'Classic' and 'Legacy' costumes for Cyclops alongside the release. These options ensure that players who prefer the character's iconic look can still enjoy the new gameplay additions, as the team aimed to balance fresh interpretations with established comic book history.
The game is currently available with its first discount, and an Ultimate Edition is also offered at a reduced price. Additionally, PlayStation Plus members can access a 3-hour game trial starting today. Attendees of EVO France, held from October 9 to 11, will have the opportunity to play as Cyclops Phoenix ahead of the official November launch.
