The author previously sampled NCsoft's scale test, noting initial impressions that felt both new and familiar. Familiar elements included the original MMO's theme, classic sound effects such as the enemy alerted noise, and a degree of clunkiness. Meanwhile, the game's presentation impressed with its visuals, music, and character creation capabilities, alongside stable servers and good performance during the brief tutorial and opening zone visit.
The author experienced the initial tutorial, quick character creation, and a short portion of the opening zone as a Cleric, noting that the game features mouselook which initially felt a bit tacked-on.
